Chatterbooks Reading Groups for Schools

NEW and updated for 2019 - Chatterbooks

Schools Library Service are pleased to offer Chatterbooks reading groups package to schools for KS2 pupils

 

Chatterbooks is a nationally recognised network of children’s reading groups co-ordinated by The Reading Agency and help children build a lifelong reading habit.  Because everything changes when we read.

We offer a package to easily set up a successful reading group in school. This includes resources and activities, support and guidance, and of course a great selection of books to enjoy.

What's included?
   > Book bag for 10 children including a reading diary, pen, bookmark and wristband
   > Group leaders toolkit including a Chatterbooks handbook
   > Downloadable themed session plans and activity ideas
   > An initial visit from a member of the SLS team to provide a short training session for school staff
   > Loan of up to 6 themed book boxes of your choice from a selection of different themes

Each box will contain 25 quality books that will inspire children to read and enjoy 

Chatterbooks is very flexible – perhaps you want to encourage a group of reluctant readers, or to develop keen readers – or both? Chatterbooks is designed to encourage children to have fun with books, whatever their ability, and provides a perfect setting for reading for pleasure.
What does it cost?

The cost is £95 per year for subscribing schools and £125 for non-subscribing schools.

The Chatterbooks offer is open to all schools on a first-come first-served basis.  Available from April 2019.
